Several reasons to consider hooking up with the Dorking Cocks mountain bike group.

There's doing stuff, like pottering about the Surrey Hills a bit, and then there's DOING stuff... Here's the latest ride report from the Dorking Cocks. Read it and weep.

Well what a great weekend that was. 3 trail centres in 3 days. Here's a little bit about it written by Ray.

Brilliant weekend!

Mark, Antony, Simon, Leo, Toby, Mattg, Tony Berlin, Huw, Joe and Paul

Marin Trail, Snowdonia National Park, Friday, 28km, 600m, lots of climbing, beautiful scenery and some really great descent's, the best being the last one back to the car park, we all did that one twice. Really like this trail, especially the fast rocky descent's, reminds me of my first MTB experience in North Wales, riding a Marin Muirwoods with no suspension, V brakes and skinny tyres, what a difference a proper rig makes.

A couple of pints at The Grapes Hotel in Mawddach (great choice Huw, been here before, great place for an evening meal) and then back to our hotel, the Tyn-y Groes.

Saturday morning, crossed the road and joined the Coed Y Brenin Dragons Back trail. Pink Heifer was the first decent, one of my favourites followed by Big Dug, Beefy and Hermon before stoping at the Cafe at Dolfrwgnog. After the cafe a big slog up the hill, bypassing the fire trail picnic loop before joining the Addams Family proper trail run. Gomez, Morticia, Pugsley, Lurch and Uncle Fester, all great decent's, even managed to give Tony Berlin a run for his money!

Cut over to the MBR trail taking in Brutus, Cain, Slated, Abel, False Teeth, Bugsy, Beginning of the end, Glide and Black Steps before stoping for lunch at the trail centre. Adam and Eve is a new section added to the trail which had some great table tops and tight swoopy bits that needed a lot of concentration to keep a fast pace flowing.

After the cafe we split into multiple groups, some doing the fire trail picnic run the other side of the river and others focusing on the pure adrenalin rush, single track downhill stuff around the trail centre. Was great to do Dream Time twice, first time to recce and the second to nail it. Finished off with Beginning of the end and then back to the hotel just in time for the Rugby.

Spent Saturday night in Dolgellau for a curry and pub stop at the Cross Keys, thank god we lost the rugby.

Sunday was spent at the Coed Llandegla Forest Trail centre and what an awesome ride it turned out to be. Miles and miles of fast descent's with plenty of table tops and perfectly placed berms, even the north shore was fast and exciting. This is definitely one of my favourite trail centres, nothing like riding a trail where you have so much confidence that you just can't go fast enough. Must buy a drop seat post! Going on YouTube is a must to get an idea of what it is like.

A brilliant weekend with perfect weather!
